Bridge the Gap: Protecting Home, Stability, and Community in Northeast Texas
A sudden shift in federal funding eliminated nearly $700,000 from Northeast Texas Habitat for Humanity’s budget.
Without immediate replacement, at least 75 families this year will go without critical housing services.
That means seniors remaining in unsafe homes, veterans without accessibility modifications, and families continuing to live in conditions that impact their health and stability. For many in Gregg, Harrison, and Upshur counties, Habitat is the only organization providing these services.
When housing services disappear, the impact is immediate and long lasting. Small repairs become major failures. Waitlists grow into years. Costs multiply. Communities lose stability.
For more than 40 years, Northeast Texas Habitat for Humanity has served as a foundation for stability in Gregg, Harrison, and Upshur counties. That foundation is now under pressure.
We have acted by reducing expenses, reallocating staff, expanding revenue through our ReStore, and using reserves. These steps have allowed us to continue—but they are not sustainable.
Bridge the Gap is a $700,000 emergency campaign to sustain essential services while we rebuild long-term funding. Funds will support both direct program delivery and operational continuity to ensure services remain available.
Make a gift today to help sustain critical housing services across Northeast Texas. Your support protects families, prevents crisis, and preserves a critical community resource.
